Current Applicants

Taught by world-class researchers, our BA and BSc programmes give you a fresh perspective on the world around you and a thorough grounding in current geography research. You will learn the importance of geographical methods in tackling some of the biggest challenges facing the world today and graduate with a highly valuable set of project design and critical thinking skills.

While many of our students opt for our longstanding BA and BSc Geography programmes, you may be ready to specialise early on if you already know where your geographical interests lie. The core of each of our programmes is modelled on the BA and BSc courses but adapted to help you focus on the areas of Geography of most interest to you.

        The UCL Geography Experience

        • The University has a longstanding tradition of carrying out the very best geography research. We were home to the first-ever UK geography professor, and continue to be one of the largest and most dynamic geography departments in the UK.
        • As a student, you'll be working alongside a group of well recognised scholastic experts representing a very diverse range of specialisms. We are consistently ranked among the top ten Geography departments in the world.
        • Our wide range of optional courses and excellent student-staff ratio makes for plenty of individual choice and scope for personal supervision.
        • Our active and supportive undergraduate GeogSoc, combined with regular staff contact and varied fieldwork opportunities, means you'll soon feel part of our research community.
        • Based in the heart of London, our Bloomsbury campus provides a picturesque and peaceful setting for study, with its many squares and gardens, whilst also being in a great central location for access to all the city has to offer.
        • Thanks to the valuable set of transferable skills learned throughout each undergraduate programme, our students have been particularly good at securing top positions in a diverse range of sectors after graduation.

What our students have to say...

“A big factor in my decision to study Geography at UCL was the world-leading research. Their research often forms the basis for teaching and it is fascinating to learn the very latest in the area that you choose to specialise in. The academics at UCL really care about their research and I think this makes the learning experience much more fascinating and enjoyable.”
