'Understanding the drivers of carbon sequestration in contrasting seagrass ecosystems: Implications for regional seagrass conservation.'

This plan-disciplinary PhD project will attempt to understand the dynamics of carbon storage in the UK's seagrass sediments and use this to improve conservation efforts of this, potentially vital, resource. It will further the understanding of how habitat characteristics affect service provision in local seagrass habitats, and will assess the value of the carbon stores found. Further, by using the Marine Protected Area Governance Framework (Peter Jones, UCL) it will assess the effectiveness of current conservation attempts on UK seagrass habitats. The ultimate aim will be to provide a blue print for protecting the UKs seagrass blue carbon stores.
