First UCAS Open Day of 2016/17

Inspiring the next generation of UCL Geographers

First UCAS Open Day of 2016/17

24th November was the first UCL Geography UCAS Open Day of the year for undergraduate admissions in 2017.

Fifty two prospective students came from across the country and beyond. They met the department’s staff to hear about new developments in our courses and the many ways in which studying geography at UCL could make a difference.

With display stands about various aspects of the department’s work, staff were available to answer questions about our teaching and research.

There were also masterclasses on current issues studied in the department, including urban life in Africa and other developing countries, and new developments in the computer-based visualisation and analysis of data about cities. Touring the department’s environmental laboratories also provided a setting for discussing fieldwork in physical geography.

Six more Open Days are planned in the New Year.
