UCL Conservation Group established

UCL Geography and Biology students have formed a new UCL Conservation Group, an informal, student-led group, with membership open to all students and staff at UCL.

The Group aims to promote awareness of pressing local and global conservation issues and to get involved in all sorts of practical activities. These will include volunteering, campaigning and fund-raising, biodiversity surveys, field trips and nature guiding. Talks and debates are also planned during each term.

Closely linked to the UCL Green Initiative (https://www.ucl.ac.uk/greenucl), this year the Conservation Group will take a leading role in a survey of urban wildlife found on campus, as well as volunteering with the Friends of the River Crane, in west London, and the Zoological Society of London.

The first open meeting took place on 25^th January and featured a talk by Evan Landy (UCL Estates) on the Campus Biodiversity Survey. Future events will be advertised soon.
