Stewarding the Disputed Future

David Lowenthal’s keynote lecture at German symposium

Stewarding the Disputed Future

On 11 September, Professor David Lowenthal gave a keynote lecture, 'Stewarding the Disputed Future: Tribal Legacy, National Patrimony, Global Heritage', at the University of Rostock, Germany.

It launched a symposium, Nature--Culture--Ecologies: Heritage in Transcultural Contexts, organised by the Graduate School of the University, the eighth in an annual series of ten programmes on Cultural Encounters and the Discourses of Scholarship.

The symposium was inspired by the convergence and interrelations of discourses on “heritage” and growing awareness of the global connectedness of different ecospheres and of the human social realm.
