Hilary Birks elected Fellow of the AAAS

Late November saw the announcement from The American Association for the Advancement of Science that Professor Hilary Birks, University of Bergen and  Visiting Professor at the UCL Geography Environmental Change Research Centre, had been elected a Fellow of the AAAS.

This is recognition of those whose “efforts on behalf of the advancement of science or its applications are scientifically or socially distinguished”.

Hilary was honoured: For extraordinary contributions to Quaternary paleoecology, particularly in reconstructing landscapes across the periglacial northern hemisphere based on pollen and plant macrofossil assemblages.

The award will be made to her in San Jose, California on 14 February during the AAAS Annual Meeting.
