First prize for Catherine

Award for her undergraduate dissertation on World War Two

First prize for Catherine

Catherine van de Dries has been awarded First Prize by the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) Women in Geography Study Group for her 2011 dissertation, The Visual Construction of Femininity and Surveillance of the Female Body in Britain During World War Two.


Dr Rosie Cox (Birkbeck University of London), the Joint WGSG Dissertation Prize Coordinator writing on behalf of the assessors, praised Catherine’s work as “a highly original and sophisticated piece of undergraduate research".

Catherine will receive £60, with £30 worth of books from Pearson Education.
