Anson Mackay wins UCL Student Choice Award

Commitment to ethos of Equality and Inclusion

Anson Mackay wins UCL Student Choice Award

UCL Geography’s Professor Anson Mackay is this year’s winner of a UCL Student Choice Award, through which students thank staff members who have inspired and supported them at UCL.

The award especially recognises Anson’s contribution to Diverse and Inclusive Education.

Anson convenes courses for first, second, and third year undergraduates, as well as at the Masters level. His research focusses on understanding climatic and human impacts on freshwater ecosystems, especially lakes and wetlands.

Recently he has become more involved in issues of equality in academia, and currently co-Chairs the Geography Equality, Diversity and Inclusion group (G-EDI). This year he also became the Social and Historical Sciences Faculty Vice Dean for EDI.

As the Award’s citation declares: ‘His commitment to the ethos of Equality and Inclusion is unmatched’.
