Keeping tracks of pioneering environmentalists

Professor David Lowenthal was invited to participate at an international seminar on Stewarding Our Common Environment at Spydeberg, Norway on 31st August.

He spoke on, Can pioneering environmentalists enhance environmental management today and beyond? Keeping tracks of J.N. Wilse and George Perkins Marsh J N Wilse (1735-1801) was “Norway’s first ecologist”; and George Perkins Marsh (1801-1882) “The prophet of conservation in the United States”.

The programme also included a contribution by Dag  Myklebust, Senior Adviser on International Affairs, The Norwegian Directorate for Cultural Heritage, on The Council of Europe’s Faro Convention - a homage to Professor David Lowenthal.
