Why Study Geography, Earth or Environmental Sciences?

Nicholas Smale's success in national student essay competition

Why Study Geography, Earth or Environmental Sciences?

Nicholas Smale, in his second year on the UCL Joint Degree course in Geography/Economics, has won a 'highly commended' award in the 2009 Student Essay Competition run by the Higher Education Academy Subject Centre for Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences (GEES). The set title of the essay was: Why Study Geography, Earth or Environmental Sciences?

While admitting to being enticed by the prize money, Nicholas found the competition enjoyable, both in writing his entry, reflecting on his studies of geography, and reading the perspectives of others.
