Developing ecological research in Botswana

UCL Geography PhD researcher, Richard Mazebedi, has been awarded a prestigious Oxford University Schroder Grant - African Training Bursary of £3,000 to undertake part-time training for a postgraduate certificate in ecological survey techniques.

The training, over a year, is based on a combination of face-to-face, online and experiential learning in ecological methodologies. It provides the knowledge and skills needed to conduct effective ecological field surveys, including GIS and field methods for a range of key taxa, and to analyse field survey data

The work will augment the skills developed through Richard’s PhD work at UCL on food webs in the Okavango Delta. He will also have excellent networking opportunities in his research field, which will benefit his teaching on returning to his home institution in Botswana, especially on ecology subjects.
