Peter Jones organises UNEP workshop in Croatia

Governing Marine Protected Areas: Getting the Balance Right

On 12-16 October, Dr Peter Jones organised a workshop in Mali-Lošinj, Croatia, on 'Governing Marine Protected Areas: Getting the Balance Right'.

The workshop gathered together 25 leading experts from five continents and seventeen countries engaged in Marine Protected Area (MPA) governance at practitioner and/or research levels. Co-hosted by Blue World Institute, University College London and the United Nations Environment Programme, the meeting aimed to compare and analyse a representative range of MPA case studies as part of a project to develop a good practice guide.

The project is coordinated by Peter Jones (UCL) with assistance from Dr. Elizabeth De Santo (Marine Affairs Programme, Dalhousie University), Dr. Peter Mackelworth (Blue World Institute), Wanfei Qiu (UCL) and Ole Vestergaard (UNEP Division for Environmental Policy Implementation, Marine and Coastal Ecosystems Branch).
