David Lowenthal talks to mark Risorgimento anniversary

Celebrating George Perkins Marsh in Italy

In mid October, Professor David Lowenthal attended a 150th anniversary celebration of the Risorgimento, in Piobesi Torinese, Piedmont, giving four talks to commemorate the role of George Perkins Marsh, as author of Man and Nature and then US envoy to Italy, in pioneering  environmental and social reform.

In November David will also lecture in heritage programmes in archaeology at the Universities of Cambridge on Reflections on the State of Heritage and York, on Is the past still a foreign country?.
