Enthusing students about environmental research

David Thornalley is UCL Student Choice Outstanding Teacher

Dr David Thornalley is one of four UCL Student Choice Outstanding Teachers for 2015.

David is interested in the role of the ocean in past, present and future climate change, with a particular interest in the North Atlantic and the causes, consequences and likelihood of abrupt changes in its circulation.

Most of David’s teaching is on final year undergraduate and MSc courses in paleoclimatology and paleoceanography. His key aims are to introduce students to ongoing scientific debates and how to evaluate relevant evidence.

More importantly, he enthuses students about the ability of scientific research to discover something previously unknown about the world around us.
