Visiting Scholarship to UNC by Ruth Judge

Ruth Judge, a postgraduate researcher in UCL Geography, spent February to May this year as a visiting scholar in the Geography Department, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the USA's oldest public university.

Ruth’s visit was funded by the ESRC's ‘Overseas Institutional Visit' scheme, and during the visit her work included:

  • A 'work in progress' presentation on her PhD project;
  • Giving a talk to the undergraduate course, 'Geographies of Religion' on 'Youthful religiosity, low-income contexts and global imaginaries';
  • Organising a writing workshop with other graduate students;
  • Working with Dr Elizabeth Olson on themes emerging from her PhD research on marginalised youth and religiosity.
