Outstanding teaching and research development

Five Geography staff on UCL Student Choice Roll of Honour

Student Choice Teaching Awards at UCL are awarded by a judging panel of UCL students.

Outstanding teachers are those who inspire enthusiasm for their subject, show commitment to the discipline by drawing on current research, have an innovative and engaging approach to teaching, encourage students through constructive and consistent feedback, and are responsive and approachable, with a friendly manner.

This year the UCL list of nominees included five Geography staff:

  • Professor Richard Dennis
  • Professor Anson Mackay
  • Dr Ben Page
  • Dr Sam Randalls
  • Professor Ann Varley

Sam Randalls was also nominated in the Outstanding Researcher Development category, for staff who help research students reach their potential and offer the essential balance between providing support and fostering independence.
