The pitfalls of International migration statistics

John Salt gives evidence to House of Commons Select Committee

On 24th April Professor John Salt gave evidence to the House of Commons Public Administration Select Committee enquiry into international migration statistics.

Among the issues discussed were:

  • The adequacy of statistics for assessing the success of the government's migration target
  • Estimates of likely flows of Bulgarians and Romanians from the end of 2013
  • The value of e-borders statistics
  • The potential value of a population register.
