Top distinctions for Rick Battarbee and Ann Varley

UCL staff awarded 2010 Royal Geographical Society Medals

Since 1830 the Royal Geographical Society's Medals and Awards  have recognised excellence in research and fieldwork,  teaching and public engagement. The RGS (with IBG) has awarded the 2010 Victoria Medal, for ‘conspicuous merit in research in Geography’, to Professor Rick  Battarbee, specifically ‘for research in environmental change’. The Busk Medal has is awarded to Professor Ann Varley for her ‘field research in Mexico’.

A former UCL student, Professor Diana Liverman (University of Arizona, Institute of the Environment) was also awarded the Founder's Medal.

These awards are in  recognition of outstanding achievements and the Awards ceremony will be held at the RGS on the 7th June.
