Refugee Project wins first UCL Social Enterprise Award

Enterprise Award shared by geography undergrad

Yasmin Grewal, a final year geographer, and Noor Alyassin (Biochemical Engineering) have won the UCL Social Enterprise Project of the Year for 2010, for their roles in organising the UCL Refugee Project.

This Project, supported by the UCL Union Volunteering Services, aims to help integrate those struggling to adapt to life in the UK and improve their language skills. The volunteers regularly visit the London Refugee Advice and Support Centre (RASC) and host activities which aim to encourage conversation, and build vocabulary and confidence.

The UCL Awards for Enterprise, held this year on 13 May, were established to recognise the accomplishments of UCL’s most innovative and entrepreneurial staff and students.
