The role of art in rebranding urban space

RGS-IBG award for Andrew Harris

The role of art in rebranding urban space

Dr Andrew Harris has been awarded a Small Research Grant by the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) to conduct research on 'New cultural silos: investigating urban art districts in Argentina'.

The research will provide new insights into the role of culture in processes of urban change by comparing how art has been used to transform the centrally-located port districts of two Argentinean cities since the 1990s; Buenos Aires and Rosario. The study will contribute to a wider project examining the role of art and artists in recent attempts to remake and brand urban space across India, UK and in the United Arab Emirates.
