Research on ecology of chalk aquifer

Jessica wins top prize in UCL Graduate Poster competition

Every year the UCL Graduate School runs a Research Poster Competition, offering graduate students an opportunity to meet, advertise and discuss their research.

The exhibition this year took place in the College Cloisters on 3-4 March, with over 200 posters displayed.

The top prize (£400) in the Arts & Humanities, Laws and Social and Historical Sciences Faculties went, for a second time, to Jessica Durkota, a PhD student in Geography, for her poster on "Ecology of a chalk aquifer: composition of benthic, hyporheic and phreatic invertebrate communities in relation to changing environmental conditions"

The poster was based on Jessica's research in southern England which assessed the invertebrate communities of three groundwater-dependent habitats in relation to environmental gradients of water quality and hydrology.
