SPLINT Maps the UK for the Office of National Statistics

The 6th March saw the release of the Office of National Statistics (ONS) Super Output Area and Data zones classification for the UK. This classification uses census data to show you the type of people who live in your neighbourhhod.  This information is available to download from the ONS website and can be used for further research.  The Royal Statistics Society Output Area Classification User Group and the UCL SPLINT (Spacial Literacy in Teaching) Team were approached to build a national map along the lines of their recently launched website for London.

Dr Alex Singleton and Dr Maurizio Gibin have created an interactive map which uses Web 2.0 principles to display a large choropleth map on top of Google Maps. To view the map, click here.
