Royal Geographical Society Award for James

Dr James Cheshire was presented with the Royal Geographical Society’s Cuthbert Peek Award at its Annual Awards Ceremony on June 5.

The Society’s medals and awards, “recognise extraordinary achievement in geographical research, fieldwork and teaching, photography and public engagement.”

James was among 17 recipients this year, winning the Award ‘for advancing geographical knowledge through the use of mappable Big Data’.

He joins a growing list of recent RGS winners from the department including Paul Longley, winner of the Victoria Medal in 2013, and Ann Varley who was awarded the Busk Medal in 2010.
