BBC features ATLAS mission to the deep

On 17 June, the BBC One Breakfast News featured an item, posted on this site the day before, about the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) project. This will examine past and possible future changes in AMOC and the effects of its variability on deep sea ecosystems.

The project is part of the ATLAS consortoium programme to examine interconnections between ocean circulation, surface production, and the functioning, biological richness and socioeconomic importance of Atlantic ecosystems. The Consortium includes Dr David Thornalley (UCL Geography), with others at UCL.
