Transport and urban geography of South African Cities

The PhD research of Dr Astrid Wood, who completed her work in UCL Geography last year, won two Specialty Group dissertation awards at the recent Annual meeting of the Association of American Geographers, held in Chicago.

The work, Peripatetic Planning: Tracing the Mobility of Bus Rapid Transit through South African Cities, was carried out under the supervision of Professor Jennifer Robinson and Dr Andrew Harris. It attracted both the Transportation Geography Specialty Group's outstanding dissertation award and the Urban Geography Specialty Group's dissertation award.

The Awards were presented by AAG President, Professor Mona Domosh. at a celebratory lunch in Chicago on 25th April.
