Climate change threatens the past half century of health gains

The latest Lancet paper published by the UCL-led Health and Climate Change Commission, including Professor Mark Maslin (UCL Geography), argues that the threat to human health from climate change is so great that it could undermine the last fifty years of gains in development and global health.

Nevertheless, concerted global efforts to tackle climate change may also represent one of the greatest opportunities to improve global health this century.

The report examines practical measures that can be taken now and in the short and medium term to control the effects of climate change.
