GI Geog gets Platinum Sustainability Award

Miles Irving’s “remarkable contribution”

GI Geog gets Platinum Sustainability Award

On Tuesday 10th June, members of the UCL Geography sustainability team attended the UCL Green Impact (GI) award ceremony, held in the Grant Museum of Zoology, at which the annual awards were presented by the Provost, Professor Michael Arthur.

We are happy to report that, thanks to Miles Irving’s fantastic efforts, the department gained a "Platinum" award and Miles received an individual special award for his “remarkable contribution” from the UCL Environmental Sustainability team.

Geography was placed second overall (there were 44 teams), but by such a small margin that it went to a "tie break”, and essentially Geography was pipped by the equivalent of one point. The judges had considered awarding a Joint First place with Psychology and Language Sciences (PALS), who ultimately won.

This work has provided the foundation for our Departmental Environmental Management System, required under UCL policy, which we hope to build upon with the help of all members of the Department in future years.
