Former UCL Geographers honoured

Queen’s Birthday Honours

The 2013 Queen’s Birthday Honours list included two former UCL Geography graduates:

 

Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE)

Christine Farnish (UCL Geography 1972) for services to Financial Services and Consumer Affairs.

Christine was the Financial Services Authority’s first Consumer Director, and subsequently  Chair of Consumer Focus. She has held senior roles at Barclays and the National Association of Pension Funds and served on the boards of the Office of Fair Trading and the Advertising Standards Authority.

In December 2012 she was appointed Chair of the Peer-to-Peer Finance Association (P2PFA), the trade body representing leading UK peer-to-peer finance businesses.

 

 

Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE)

 

Sarah Dunnett (UCL Geography 1978) for services to the National Health Service

Sarah has been Chair, Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust since November 2001, having earlier been a Non-Executive Director at Maidstone Hospital and West Kent Health Authority.

She had previous experience in a variety of senior management roles in the oil industry.
