Jason Dittmer at Vienna Workshop to consider a “European Young Academy” to contribute to European and global science policy debates

“New Horizons” in Science and Society

On 8-10 June, Dr Jason Dittmer attended a jointly-funded ESF-ALLEA workshop in Vienna for early career humanities researchers entitled "From Learned Societies to Knowledge-Based Society: Towards a European Young Academy?".

The meeting involved a distinguished group of 21 young scholars, and focused on, among other things, broadening current programmes to harness and enhance the abilities of young scholars from Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands, to include all of the European Union.

The wider aim was to consider mobilising the creative potential of the next generation of leading scholars by establishing a new platform (“European Young Academy”) from which they might contribute to European and global science policy debates.
