Year of 1960 returns to old haunts

UCL Geography graduates celebrate their 50th anniversary, again!

Saturday 26th June saw the return to UCL of graduates who completed their geography degrees in June 1960. They had already met three years earlier to celebrate their arrival at UCL (See News archive, August 2007). That occasion had spread over a weekend with responses from virtually everyone in the year, and some travelling from Kuwait, Australia and Canada as well as all parts of the UK. This time a smaller group gathered for a long lunch in College. A few had not managed to attend on 2007, including Professor Bill Mead, who had taught the group half a century earlier and spoke briefly about the continuing qualities of UCL.

One of the letters to Kay Jackson, organiser of the event with Melvyn Roberts, who was unfortunately indisposed on the day, summed up everybody’s feelings about the repeat reunion: ‘Just a word to thank you for the wonderful organisation of Saturday's event…. It was so good to see everyone, and such a happy atmosphere when we are all together again’.
