‘Circles in the Strand’

Popular vote for James’s photograph

‘Circles in the Strand’

Following Ewan Shilland’s success in the UCL “Research Images as Art/Art Images as Research” competition (see: 'Beads on Weeds'), once the votes were counted it was subsequently announced that James Shilland has also won the People's Choice prize, for his photograph, ‘Circles in the Strand’.

This image is of an ENSIS/ECRC researcher surveying for aquatic plants at Llyn Hir, mid Wales, for Natural Resources Wales as part of lake surveillance monitoring for the Water Framework Directive. The lake is of special conservation interest due to its population of the rare aquatic plant Floating Water Plantain.
