Further geography successes in UCL competition

'Research Images as Art/Art Images as Research'

Hang Kei Ho, a graduate student  in UCL Geography was a runner-up in the annual UCL Graduate School Research  Images competition. His photograph, Air-conditioning in Hong Kong, showed patterns of air conditioning units in a Hong Kong high rise building.

UCL Geographers have regularly been successful in this competition, which is open to graduate students and academic staff in both the sciences and arts. They are invited to submit images associated with their research which have aesthetic appeal. The exhibition of all submissions was held in College from 6 to the 14 December and assessed by a panel of judges.

First Prize was won by Dr James Cheshire (UCL Geography PhD, 2012) and Ed Manley, of the Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis, for their image of the “Twitter languages of London”..
