Roger Flower presents Egyptian research in Japan

Environment and Civilisation

Dr Roger Flower was invited to present a paper at a conference on Environment and Civilization: Past, Present and Future, at the International Research Center for Japanese Studies (IRCJS, Nishiko-ku, Kyoto, Japan) in early December.

The meeting combined the annual conference of the Association for Environmental Archaeology (AEA) and the 39th International Research Symposium of the IRCJS.

Roger’s paper was on Sediment records of past environmental changes in Lake Qarun, a remnant early Holocene lake within the Faiyum Depression, Egypt.

The conference also included a brief visit to Lake Biwa, Japan's oldest and deepest lake.
