Chris Knell retires

15 years as UCL Geography Computer Systems Manager

Chris Knell retires

Chris Knell retired at the end of 2013 after more than 15 years as the Geography Computer System Manager.

Friends and colleagues gathered in the Mac II Room to wish Chris  a long and happy retirement. During his time in the department Chris oversaw a significant expansion in its scientific computing capability and major upgrades to the network and server infrastructure. These developments also included two major location changes in departmental computer support, first to Chandler House in the late 1990s, and then to the Pearson Building in 2005.

Chris’s expertise, and especially his quiet unflappability, have been critical in supporting the department’s rapidly evolving computer needs over this long period.
