The Inspiring Power of Africa

Diaspora meeting in UCL Geography

The Inspiring Power of Africa

The Department of Geography was delighted to host the first African Diaspora New Year Lecture on January 23rd., entitled 'The Inspiring power of Africa'. The event was co-organised with African People's Advocacy and the Migrants Rights Network.

Speakers described the projects of London's African diaspora in a variety of fields and included journalist and filmmaker Sorious Samura, Eric Chinje of the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, and the author Chantal Aboa.

Dr Ben Page, from UCL Geography commented, "Many meetings of the African diaspora focus on what should happen in the future, but what was different and inspiring about this event was that it described existing achievements and successes. It was a great privilege for the Department to be involved."
