NERC grant for Jonathan Holmes

Climate variability in the Caribbean region

Professor Jonathan Holmes has been awarded a NERC grant for a project called Neotropics1k, concerned with reconstructing climate variability over the circum-Caribbean region during the past 1200 years using oxygen-isotope analyses of lake sediments.

The project is a collaboration with colleagues from the University of the West Indies in Jamaica and the University of Nottingham, and will involve lake-sediment cores pre-collected from Mexico, Jamaica, Barbuda and Haiti.

Jonathan has also co-edited a new book on the uses of ostracods in climate change research,  published by Elsevier in the Developments in Quaternary Science series.
