Dr Anson Mackay gave a keynote talk at the international symposium "Wetlands in a flood pulsing environment" held in Maun, on the fringes of the Okavango Delta, Botswana on 1st - 5th February. This was a groundbreaking multidisciplinary symposium which sought to address the important effects of pulsing hydrologic cycles on the functioning of wetlands. Anson's keynote was on the value of monitoring for the detection of environmental change in these sensitive ecosystems.

Anson, Tom Davidson and Luca Marazzi also gave talks on findings from the UCL Geography's UK DEFRA Darwin project "Monitoring and simulating biodiversity in the Okavango Delta, Botswana".
