Conservation, the Vermont Genius Loci and George Perkins Marsh

Professor David Lowenthal gave the Sylvester Baxter Lecture, on Conservation Past and Present, at Harvard's Graduate School of Design, Cambridge, Massachusetts, on 17 November.

On 19 November, he lectured on Vermont and Genius Loci: The Marshes and UVM, at the University of Vermont, Burlington, and also gave a seminar at that university's School of Environmental  and Natural Resources,

On 21 November, he presented the keynote address Man and Nature  at 150: Past Present and Future, at the symposium, Landscapes of Hope, held at Woodstock, Vermont, where he also  received the US National Park Service's first George Perkins Marsh Legacy Award.
