Sam Randalls co-organizes Manchester workshop

A market for weather services?

Dr Sam Randalls, with Dr Vladimir Janković (University of Manchester), organized a workshop in Manchester on 21-22 November: Working Atmospheres: Weather and Climate Services in Contemporary and Historical Perspectives.

With funding from the International Commission for the History of Meteorology, the event brought together speakers and practitioners to explore both historical and contemporary perspectives on commercial meteorology and weather/climate services. It stimulated a wide-ranging discussion of the topic, laying the ground for new research collaborations over coming years.

A report on the workshop, written by Alex Hall (University of Nottingham), can be found here: http://greengambit.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/workshop-report-working-atmospheres.html
