Leverhulme Trust award for Benny Nilsen

Artist-in-residence at the UCL Urban Laboratory

The Leverhulme Trust has made a ten month artist-in-residence award for the musician and sound artist Benny Nilsen to work with Professor Matthew Gandy at the UCL Urban Laboratory from January 2012.

Benny Nilsen has released more than 15 albums and presented live on stage and in galleries worldwide.  His artistic work primarily focuses on the sound of nature and its effect on humans and on the perception of time and space as experienced through sound.

Benny has worked internationally as composer and sound designer for documentary film, television and theatre. Recently he has explored the city as an acoustic environment and how urban landscapes affect our daily life.
