Governing Marine Protected Areas in the Coral Triangle

Peter Jones Visiting Research Fellow in Western Australia

Governing Marine Protected Areas in the Coral Triangle

Dr Peter Jones recently visited the Oceans Institute, University of Western Australia (UWA) as a short-term Research Fellow.

His time ‘down under’ included a public lecture: ‘Making Marine Protected Areas More Effective: resilience through diversity’, collaboration with the Institute of Advanced Studies, and a half-day staff/post-graduate research seminar on the governance of natural resources.

The visit also allowed discussions on future opportunities to apply the analytical approach set out in in his recent book on Governing Marine Protected Areas to case studies in the Coral Triangle and Western Australia, collaborating with Dr Julian Clifton, of the UWA School of Earth and Environment.

Peter’s family subsequently joined him and they enjoyed several weeks travel along the Coral Coast of Western Australia.
