Gentrification in the Global South

UCL geographers’ role in landmark seminar series at KCL and LSE

Gentrification in the Global South

Drs Charlotte Lemanski and Andrew Harris, of UCL Geography, contributed papers on gentrification in South Africa and India respectively to the international Urban Studies Seminar, Towards an emerging geography of gentrification in the Global South, held at Kings College London and the London School of Economics on 23-24 March.

Both also acted as discussants during the two-day workshop, and Professors Jenny Robinson and Sue Parnell (Leverhulme Visiting Professor at UCL from the University of Cape Town), contributed to a final panel discussion.  Several UCL undergraduate and postgraduate students also attended.
