Transport, housing and crime in Ecuador and Colombia

Professor Alan Gilbert was in Ecuador in March as a guest of the Ecuadorian government to participate in a conference on urban governance. During his visit he talked with numerous government officials including the Mayor of Quito and the Minister of Social Development about housing, transport and poverty issues.

Alan then spent two weeks in Bogotá and interviewed the Mayor, the heads of transport and Transmilenio, the world renowned bus rapid transport (BRT) project, and several other experts on urban government, crime and transport in the city.
