Making It Big? Tracing Collaboration in the Life Sciences

Gail Davies co-organises international workshop for ESRC Genomics Network (EGN)

Making It Big? Tracing Collaboration in the Life Sciences

An international workshop on Making It Big? Tracing Collaboration in the Life Sciences was organised by Gail Davies (UCL), Emma Frow (EGN Forum) and Sabina Leonelli (Exeter) at the University of Exeter, with funding from the EGN Genomics Forum. March 17-18, 2011.

The workshop bought together social scientists from Europe, the UK and USA working on the changing structures, geography and sociology of a range of 'big' biology projects, including the human genome project, synthetic biology, translational medicine and model organism research. The workshop shared insights across these case studies and explored what is at stake, for both natural and social scientists, in the project of 'making it big'.
