Matthew Gandy wins Graham Foundation grant for his forthcoming book

Professor Matthew Gandy has won a grant from the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts towards his book project entitled The fabric of space: water, modernity and the urban imagination.

Founded in 1956, the Chicago-based Graham Foundation makes project-based grants to individuals and organizations to foster the development and exchange of diverse and challenging ideas about architecture and its role in the arts, culture, and society. Matthew's book draws together over ten years of work on cities, water and urban infrastructure, based on research in Berlin, Lagos, Paris, Mumbai and other locations.

Matthew has been also invited to serve on the Economic and Social Research Council's Peer Review College from 2010-14.  He is one of six academics across UCL to be appointed by the ESRC in the 2010 round.
