UCL Geography awarded Athena SWAN bronze
Reducing gender inequalities
UCL Geography is committed to increasing its diversity. As part of this effort, we decided to investigate the causes of the gender bias in our staffing. This was undertaken using the Athena SWAN process developed to reduce the inequalities faced by women in STEM subjects.
An application was developed for the first step of this process – a bronze award. This involves describing both the department and the procedures and processes within it. We also outlined a list of further actions that we plan to take to improve equality and diversity.
The submission has been assessed by a national panel and our application for a bronze award has been successful. Both the submission and additional information will soon be openly available on the departmental website.
