Publication of 3rd Newsletter

Looking ahead in the Refugee Hosts Project

The Third Newsletter has been published of the UCL Geography AHRC-ESRC funded Refugee Hosts project (2016-2020).

The project, led by Dr Elena Fiddian-Qasmiyeh, is investigating local community experiences of, and responses to, conflict induced displacement from Syria.

The Newsletter highlights the project’s next steps, including extensive fieldwork in Lebanon and Jordan. It can be read and downloaded here.

The project’s series, Representations of Displacement, also explores how, why, and with what effect, refugees, migrants, displaced peoples and hosting communities are represented in humanitarian contexts.

See the blog here.

The project is currently inviting submissions for its new blog series: Contextualising the Localisation of Aid Agenda.

Read the series here.

Find out how to contribute here.

Please share the call for submissions with others, and contact the Project and Communications Coordinator, Aydan Greatrick ( for further information.
