Dr Mathias (Mat) Disney
About
I am a lecturer in Remote Sensing in the Department of Geography and member of the Environmental Monitoring and Modelling Group. I can either be found in Room 113 in Pearson Building, Gower Street, or in the Remote Sensing Unit computer lab. I am also a member of the NERC National Centre for Earth Observation (NCEO), and am funded through the Carbon Cycle theme. I was also involved in the precursor NERC Centre for Terrestrial Carbon Dynamics.
I am interested in the interactions of radiation (predominantly at optical wavelengths) with the land surface. In particular I am interested in how radiation interacts with vegetation, how we can model and understand this interaction and how we can exploit it to quantify and understand the terrestrial biosphere. Much of my research effort has been directed at new ways of exploiting multiangular observations of the terrestrial surface in order to estimate biophysical parameters related to vegetation type, amount and dynamics.
More details of my research interest can be found here.
I can usually be found in Room 113, Pearson Building. My office number is +44 (0)20 7679 0592 (full contact details).
My office hours in Term 2 (Jan-Mar 2013) are: Mon 9-10, Thurs 2-4pm.
