Area of Expertise

Region of Expertise
Mexico-US Border, California

Doctoral Project Title
"Coming of Age in the United States, Becoming Mexican (-American)?"

Current Research
I am working on a Chicana feminist study that explores how young Mexican women engage with ideas of womanhood, family and ‘Mexicanness’ in San Diego, California. I am conducting interviews and focus groups with young women who identify as Mexican and who come from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds. The project is located in, and seeks to contribute to, Chicana feminist theory, wider theories of gender and ethnicity, and the geographies of youth.
