‘Urban design in the realm of urban studies’
Pushpa Arabindoo’s workshop in Ahmedabad
From 2-4 April, Dr Pushpa Arabindoo was invited to conduct a three-day urban design workshop by the M.Arch (Urban Design) programme at the Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT), in Ahmedabad, India .
Exploring the theme of ‘Urban design in the realm of urban studies’, the workshop introduced urban design students to key debates from the urban studies discourse. These included the privatisation of public spaces, designing for a multicultural city, vulnerability to disasters and climate change, as well as the larger planning challenges associated with the phenomenon of city-region formation.
